Flipped Classroom Model
I created a video that walks you through how to navigate my Canvas classes. My video covers my Art 1 class, but all of my classes are set up in the same format. I created the video while on student view on Canvas rather than instructor, since they are slightly different. I go through the homepage links, announcement slides, project instructions, and navigation bar. I also spend time demonstrating how to turn in a project under the assignments tab. For the creation of this video, I used Loom, which is an online site that screen-records while a view of you appears in the corner of the video in a little bubble (that setting was not working the day I recorded, unfortunately). My students are familiar with the Loom format, since we used this tool to make videos during remote and hybrid learning. I then downloaded
that video and uploaded it to YouTube for this course.
My Pinterest board gives examples for inspiration of the different projects that students will make in the class, since my video is based on the whole Canvas course and not one single project or skill. I found the examples in various places but what I found interesting is how information is found in this age of technology. Many examples were found through the personal websites or Instagram accounts of the artists, so you do not always see a title or size provided for the work. It had not occurred to me before, but that makes me more aware of the need to post that information for my own art based Instagram posts.
